Cordell Broadus, the son of rap superstar Snoop Dogg, may find himself in the dog house with his father after today committing to play college football for the UCLA Bruins.
National Signing Day decision
The highly rated wide receiver had thought to be swaying to USC and indeed his famous father recently expressed his hope that Broadus would opt to play for the Trojans - the college team he supports.
Arizona State and LSU were also considered to be amongst the schools being considered by the four star wideout but ultimately Broadus went against his fathers recent public advice.
Snoop Dogg is a well-known Trojans fans and, while he may be slightly disappointed at not being able to watch his son in their famous colors, he was quick to congratulate his decision - taking to social media to show his pride.
Snoop even explained in the aftermath of his son's National Signing Day decision that he was willing to switch allegiances:
"I'm gonna back him up 1000 percent and throw out my USC drawers," he explained.
It is believed that UCLA's victory over USC late last season played a role in helping the 24th ranked WR opt for the Bruins but he won't be the only son of a famous rapper on the roster come the 2015 season. Justin Combs, son of P-Diddy, is a defensive end for UCLA.
While Broadus is for know known most commonly as the son of Snoop, he will no doubt be on a mission to make a name for himself in his own right.
""He wants to be known as Cordell Broadus, blue-chip wide receiver. He's very humble," one former coach explained via SB Nation.
The 6 ft 2 inch reciever racked up 11 touchdowns and 602 yards last season.
